Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

Psalm 50

⁽¹⁾ The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets. ⁽²⁾ From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. ⁽³⁾ Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages. ⁽⁴⁾ He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:

⁽⁵⁾ Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.' ⁽⁶⁾ And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah ⁽⁷⁾ Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God. ⁽⁸⁾ I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.

Isaiah Chapter 49

⁽¹³⁾ Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the LORD comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. ⁽¹⁴⁾ But Zion said, 'The LORD has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.' ⁽¹⁵⁾ Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? I was left all alone, but these-- where have they come from?'' ⁽²²⁾ This is what the Sovereign LORD says: 'See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders. ⁽²³⁾ Kings will be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust at your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in me will not be disappointed.'

Galatians Chapter 3

⁽¹⁾ You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. ⁽²⁾ I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? ⁽³⁾ Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? ⁽⁴⁾ Have you suffered so much for nothing-- if it really was for nothing?

⁽⁵⁾ Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? ⁽⁶⁾ Consider Abraham: 'He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.' ⁽⁷⁾ Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. ⁽⁸⁾ The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: 'All nations will be blessed through you.'

⁽⁹⁾ So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. ⁽¹⁰⁾ All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.' ⁽¹¹⁾ Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, 'The righteous will live by faith.' ⁽¹²⁾ The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, 'The man who does these things will live by them.'

⁽¹³⁾ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.' ⁽¹⁴⁾ He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Mark Chapter 6

⁽³⁰⁾ The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. ⁽³¹⁾ Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.' ⁽³²⁾ So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. ⁽³³⁾ But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them.

⁽³⁴⁾ When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. ⁽³⁵⁾ By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. 'This is a remote place,' they said, 'and it's already very late. ⁽³⁶⁾ Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.' ⁽³⁷⁾ But he answered, 'You give them something to eat.' They said to him, 'That would take eight months of a man's wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?'

⁽³⁸⁾ How many loaves do you have?' he asked. 'Go and see.' When they found out, they said, 'Five-- and two fish.' ⁽³⁹⁾ Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. ⁽⁴⁰⁾ So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. ⁽⁴¹⁾ Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.

⁽⁴²⁾ They all ate and were satisfied, ⁽⁴³⁾ and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. ⁽⁴⁴⁾ The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand. ⁽⁴⁵⁾ Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd.

⁽⁴⁶⁾ After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.
  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  He descended to the dead.

Seasonal Collect:  Third Sunday after the Epiphany
Give us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of his salvation, that we and the whole world may perceive the glory of his marvelous works; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

The Collect of the Day: Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray you so to guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.

A Prayer of Saint Chrysostom
Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen.
