Confession of Sin

Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

The Absolution
Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

pure brightness of everliving Father in heaven

The Lessons

Psalm 111

⁽¹⁾ Praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. ⁽²⁾ The works of the LORD are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. ⁽³⁾ His work is honorable and glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. ⁽⁴⁾ He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.

⁽⁵⁾ He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant. ⁽⁶⁾ He has declared to His people the power of His works, In giving them the heritage of the nations. ⁽⁷⁾ The works of His hands are verity and justice; All His precepts are sure. ⁽⁸⁾ They stand fast forever and ever, And are done in truth and uprightness.

⁽⁹⁾ He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome is His name. ⁽¹⁰⁾ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.

Psalm 112

⁽¹⁾ Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments. ⁽²⁾ His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. ⁽³⁾ Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. ⁽⁴⁾ Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

⁽⁵⁾ A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. ⁽⁶⁾ Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. ⁽⁷⁾ He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. ⁽⁸⁾ His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

Psalm 113

⁽¹⁾ Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, Praise the name of the LORD! ⁽²⁾ Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forevermore! ⁽³⁾ From the rising of the sun to its going down The LORD's name is to be praised. ⁽⁴⁾ The LORD is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens.

⁽⁵⁾ Who is like the LORD our God, Who dwells on high, ⁽⁶⁾ Who humbles Himself to behold The things that are in the heavens and in the earth? ⁽⁷⁾ He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, ⁽⁸⁾ That He may seat him with princes -- With the princes of His people.

Psalm 116

⁽¹⁾ I love the LORD, because He has heard My voice and my supplications. ⁽²⁾ Because He has inclined His ear to me, Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. ⁽³⁾ The pains of death surrounded me, And the pangs of Sheol laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow. ⁽⁴⁾ Then I called upon the name of the LORD: 'O LORD, I implore You, deliver my soul!'

Psalm 117

Isaiah Chapter 1

⁽⁹⁾ Unless the LORD of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.

2 Peter Chapter 3

⁽¹⁾ Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), ⁽²⁾ that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, ⁽³⁾ knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, ⁽⁴⁾ and saying, 'Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.'

⁽⁵⁾ For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, ⁽⁶⁾ by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. ⁽⁷⁾ But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. ⁽⁸⁾ But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

⁽⁹⁾ The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. ⁽¹⁰⁾ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

Matthew Chapter 25

⁽¹⁾ Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. ⁽²⁾ Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. ⁽³⁾ Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, ⁽⁴⁾ but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

⁽⁵⁾ But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. ⁽⁶⁾ And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' ⁽⁷⁾ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. ⁽⁸⁾ And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'

⁽⁹⁾ But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' ⁽¹⁰⁾ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. ⁽¹¹⁾ Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' ⁽¹²⁾ But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.'

⁽¹³⁾ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
