Ordinary Time
Thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, 'I dwell in the high and holy place and also with the one who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble and to revive the heart of the contrite.' Isaiah 57:15

Confession of Sin

Most merciful God,
I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

The Absolution
Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen

The Lessons

Psalm 141

⁽¹⁾ O LORD, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you. ⁽²⁾ May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. ⁽³⁾ Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. ⁽⁴⁾ Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies.

⁽⁵⁾ Let a righteous man strike me-- it is a kindness; let him rebuke me-- it is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it. Yet my prayer is ever against the deeds of evildoers; ⁽⁶⁾ their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. ⁽⁷⁾ [They will say,] 'As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave.' ⁽⁸⁾ But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge-- do not give me over to death.

Psalm 143

Zechariah Chapter 14

⁽¹⁾ A day of the LORD is coming when your plunder will be divided among you. ⁽²⁾ I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. ⁽³⁾ Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. ⁽⁴⁾ On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

⁽⁵⁾ You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him. ⁽⁶⁾ On that day there will be no light, no cold or frost. ⁽⁷⁾ It will be a unique day, without daytime or nighttime-- a day known to the LORD. When evening comes, there will be light. ⁽⁸⁾ On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter.

⁽⁹⁾ The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one LORD, and his name the only name. ⁽¹⁰⁾ The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up and remain in its place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses. ⁽¹¹⁾ It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.

Romans Chapter 15

⁽⁷⁾ Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. ⁽⁸⁾ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God's truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs ⁽⁹⁾ so that the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: 'Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles; I will sing hymns to your name.' ⁽¹⁰⁾ Again, it says, 'Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.'

⁽¹¹⁾ And again, 'Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to him, all you peoples.' ⁽¹²⁾ And again, Isaiah says, 'The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him.' ⁽¹³⁾ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Luke Chapter 19

⁽²⁸⁾ After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. ⁽²⁹⁾ As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, ⁽³⁰⁾ Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. ⁽³¹⁾ If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.''

⁽³²⁾ Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. ⁽³³⁾ As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, 'Why are you untying the colt?' ⁽³⁴⁾ They replied, 'The Lord needs it.' ⁽³⁵⁾ They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.

⁽³⁶⁾ As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. ⁽³⁷⁾ When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: ⁽³⁸⁾ Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!' 'Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!' ⁽³⁹⁾ Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, 'Teacher, rebuke your disciples!'

⁽⁴⁰⁾ I tell you,' he replied, 'if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.'
